The Merewood Hotel is a stunning venue, close to, and overlooking Windermere. The grounds are outstanding and are a perfect backdrop for photographs. The house is still substantially as it was when it was built in 1820 for the First Earl of Lonsdale. It remained a family home until 1985 when it became a hotel. Beautiful panelling, original floors and a stunning staircase all provide the setting for amazing and elegant photographs of your wedding. The hotel can accommodate weddings of up to 120 guests (200 in the evening) but I have photographed a number of ‘Micro’ and ‘Just Us’ weddings here too. The house and grounds seem to lend themselves to these smaller events very well indeed and they is always seem to have a lovely, relaxed atmosphere.
